NIKKY D’AGUILAR

I've been painting for twenty five years, exhibiting in many small galleries and doing direct commissions for clients.

Nearly all my work is inspired by the environment, in particular the stunning coastline in Northumberland where I live.

​

My aim is to capture what I feel more than what I actually see -  energy, light,  colour and movement all come together to give me a feeling that I am compelled to transfer to the canvas.

​

I work fast, creating many different layers and always covering the whole canvas in one sitting, so that I can work the paint while it's still wet and 'alive'.

​

I don't plan a painting in advance,  I like to let instinct and the paint lead the way and allow the painting to reveal itself over time.

​

For simplicity I have divided my work into three categories: Landscapes, Abstract and Floral.
